Our Vision is for a community that works together to advance community life. About the Role Bundoora Homestead Art Centre is the public art gallery for the City of Darebin, hosting contemporary visual arts and craft exhibitions and an onsite café set in a heritage mansion and gardens.
This position plays a key role in the Art & Collections Unit which oversees visual art services within the City of Darebin.
The Education and Public Programs Officer designs and delivers a range of programs and events to complement the exhibition program at Bundoora Homestead Art Centre, including creative workshops, talks, school holiday activities, education, and professional development programs.
Key duties include:
- Designing and delivering a range of creative workshops and events that target different community groups and foster inclusion and connection
- Designing and delivering education and heritage tours at Bundoora Homestead
- Liaising with contractors to coordinate the delivery of specialised art and craft workshops and events. The Education and Public Programs Officer must demonstrate a passion for engaging with community through diverse creative, heritage and cultural experiences.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in visual arts, arts education or related discipline or experience with community engagement in an arts or cultural space.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and effectively managing Public Programs and events.
- Highly developed administrative and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including telephone and face to face.
- Empathy and cultural awareness – ability to communicate and relate well to people from a diverse range of cultures
