Primary Purpose of the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised individual with excellent communication skills to join our collaborative and welcoming team.
Our focus is on delivering exceptional experiences for our Australian client schools by organising high-quality, customised education tours for both student and teacher groups. With more than 12 years of industry experience and a steadily expanding clientele, Libertas Travel offers a dynamic and adaptable team environment.
The Educational TravelOperations Manager and Consultant reports directly to the Managing Director and holds a pivotal, hands-on position overseeing operational activities across all tour offerings, with a primary focus on building and maintaining strong client relationships.
Collaborating closely with the Operations Coordinator and our team in Rome, as well as with inbound travel agencies on a tour-by-tour basis, this role is integral to the smooth functioning of Libertas Travel. Additionally, the Educational TravelOperations Manager and Consultant works in tandem with other team members, including Business Development Managers and the Corporate Services Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain effective relationships with client Schools, ensuring that tours proceed smoothly in accordance with itinerary schedules.
- Manage client relationships and tour operations - ensure that tours proceed smoothly and in accordance with itinerary schedules.
- Assign tour booking responsibilities for confirmed tours – either within the Libertas team and/or inbound travel agencies – and actively monitor progress.
- Prepare for, and present, at tour group pre-departure briefings.
- Brief/debrief with Tour Managers.
- Troubleshoot any issues arising whilst tours are in train.
- Engage inbound travel agencies and evaluate their performance.
- Work with the Libertas Travel team to negotiate cost-effective arrangements with key third-party suppliers (incl. airlines and hotels).
- Respond and manage client feedback and issues.
Skills and Experience
- Minimum 3-4 years prior experience in a senior role with a group travel environment.
- Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal – and confident public speaker.
- Up-to-date knowledge of international travel industry networks and trends.
- Service-oriented with strong multi-tasking and task management skills.
- Ability to manage workloads, set priorities and resolve issues independently.
- Proficiency in email communication and using product management software.
- Working With Children Check clearance
