Our Ideal Candidate
Strategic Communication Branch plays a key role shaping the narrative and perception of Australia’s largest Commonwealth Department and the Australian Defence Force, building trust with the Australian community and advancing Australia’s national security interests. Our structure gives us visibility of the whole organisation, enabling us to make integral linkages between key stakeholders, develop strong professional networks and build our skills and leadership qualities. Collaboration is at the heart of our operations.

We work closely with other departments and policy officers across Defence to ensure a unified and coherent message. Our branch provides a strong network of communication professionals – peers to exchange ideas with, mentors to guide your development and a team who works together to deliver the best communication outcomes for Defence. We offer a unique opportunity to work on both external and internal communication initiatives. You will engage with the media, policymakers, the public, and the ADF community to effectively convey the departments initiatives and policies.

Additionally, you will play a key role in keeping Defence’s employees well-informed, engaged, and aligned with the organisations goals and objectives.
