Australia is facing the most challenging and complex set of strategic circumstances we have seen since the Second World War. In the Indo-Pacific, an unprecedented military build-up has driven increased strategic competition, requiring Australia to accelerate and expand our national naval shipbuilding capability.
The Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPV) Branch is delivering the Arafura class to the Royal Australian Navy, an enhanced constabulary operations capability. The Arafura class is an exciting and challenging project with multiple ships in production across two Australian shipyards.
The OPV Branch is also establishing an enduring partnership with an Australian company as a strategic shipbuilder to build Australian Defence Force vessels in Western Australia, actioning a recommendation of the Defence Strategic Review to consolidate activities and enhance capability at the Henderson for continuous naval shipbuilding.
You will lead a team responsible to perform and achieve complex financial management and project controls within an integrated workforce.
About our Team
Business Director OPV Branch is a senior leadership role in the OPV Branch reporting to the Assistant Secretary, and you will promote a culture of innovation, collaboration and agility across the Branch. You will be responsible for guiding and leading a team of qualified and experienced people including public service officers and contractors to provide:
- Financial management, utilising extensive knowledge relating to the methodology, systems and procedures within the accounting and financial systems function;
- Project Controls functions of cost estimating and forecasting, schedule management, risk management, and earned value management; and
- Support to project directors and project managers within the OPV Branch, including managing services contracts and the business administration team.
