The Marketing and Communications Branch enhances the Agency’s reputation amongst key stakeholders with a focus on participants. They deliver strategic and impactful marketing and digital solutions, supported by market research and insights.
The Marketing and Communications branch aims to build proactive engagement with the Agency and create insight led behaviour change through timely, accessible and inclusive marketing.
About the role:
The EL1 Assistant Director, Brand and Design will lead a team of 5 across graphic design and brand management. The team provides expert advice and oversees all brand related materials created for the Agency, facilitating compliance with Agency brand guidelines. They also oversee and manage the Agency’s Brand and trademarks portfolio and respond to any risks relating to misuse of the trademarks.
As the EL1 AD Brand and Design you will also lead the graphic design team which provides service to Agency and external stakeholders as well as maintaining branded products and guidance. This includes managing and leading the innovative evolution of the brand guidelines for both the Agency and Partners in the Community.
With an overall objective to maintain brand integrity and build trust in the Agency brand, the EL1 AD Brand and Design will:
- Provide strategic branding advice and expertise to the Agency.
- Project manage complex projects, responding to changing environments, that impact brand application.
- Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders to identify opportunities, achieve outcomes in a timely manner and facilitate cooperation.
- Work with the Director of Marketing to set direction and clear remit for the graphic design and brand management team.
- Foster creative consistencies across various critical brand touchpoints such as; design, TV, social media, media, communications, website, UX, service design, engagement, partners and providers.
- Streamline process and guidance documentation such as SOPs to ensure responsibilities are clear and processes are sound.
- Oversee key themes arising through the marketing inbox and implement efficiencies to mitigate.
- Manage, update and continuously improve the Agency’s Brand Guidelines, Partners in the Community Communications Guidelines, Style Sheet and templates, and formalise and implement policies and plans to support their correct use.
- Manage and continuously improve the tademarks portfolio and governance processes. This includes renewals and any brand misuse or trademark breaches along with any trademark proposals from other teams.
- Work closely with other teams such as fraud and legal regarding brand matters, in particular trademarks – management, monitoring, breaches and misuse.
- Drive and develop the creation of a Data Asset Management tool (DAM) and be the ongoing custodian. This includes ensuring that content and consent is up to date and all image use is recorded to minimise brand risk, and applies related policy guidance i.e. privacy. Your remit will also include continuous improvement practices as well as training and processes for other contributors and users of the DAM.
- Identify gaps in image inventory and organise photoshoots to ensure we have a diverse portfolio of images for use.
- Proactively manage brand applications both internally and externally to the Agency. This includes adherence to using the branded templates.
- Continuously improve and innovate our brand direction and management practices.
- Assist with administrative and reporting functions.
- Experience in developing, working with and applying extensive Brand and writing style guidelines.
- Understanding and extensive experience in working with complex documents and applying graphic design.
- Extensive stakeholder management and problem-solving expertise.
- Tertiary qualifications in marketing, design, communications or public relations, or equivalent experience is required.
- Knowledge and understanding of trademark legislation as it applies to brand governance.
- Experience in the process of brand development or rebranding.
- Presenting/public speaking experience and confidence.
**Mandatory: Australian Citizenship required to work within Federal Government.**
