About the role

Mackay Sugar currently has a permanent opportunity for an experienced Electrical Engineerto become a key member of our on-site Maintenance and Production Team at Racecourse Mill. Reporting to Engineering Superintendent, the primary purpose of this role is to support multiple activities across the delivery lifecycle, this includes producing safe, compliant, reliable, and cost-effective designs; supporting production and maintenance teams, test & commissioning with timely engineering advice and concessions; identification of the root cause of problems across our Mills; managing technical risks and opportunities with internal stakeholders.

Key accountabilities

• Ensure WHS and Environmental objectives are achieved by providing leadership that establishes a strong commitment to safety and the environment.
• Ensures Mackay Sugar continually improves its productivity and profitability by providing the necessary leadership and technical support in the areas of power distribution and process control.
• Ensures effective utilisation of resources by establishing a consistent and strategic approach to factory electrical maintenance and strategy development across Mackay Sugar.
• Ensure effective utilisation of the Company’s assets by developing and implementing agreed initiatives for operating, maintenance, and capital programs.
• Ensures Mackay Sugar’s technical assets (drawings, manuals, investigation records, program code etc) are preserved, maintained, and updated by developing and maintaining appropriate systems.

As a minimum you will hold

• Tertiary Qualifications in Electrical or equalizing Engineering qualifications (bachelor’s degree or higher) and a minimum of five (5) years industrial engineering experience.  

OR 

• Electrical / Instrumentation trade certificate, a minimum of five (5) years industrial engineering experience and studying towards Tertiary Qualifications (Bachelor’s degree or higher).

Both pathways, either Tertiary or Trade Qualified will also require the following qualifications and/or commitments as below:

• CPEng and/or RPEQ certified in Electrical (or have a clear plan to achieved status).
• Knowledge of Electrical Acts, Codes of Practice and Standards.
• High Voltage Switching and Coordination (or could achieve this status).
• Knowledge and exposure to Process Control Systems, SCADA, Networking, and Instrumentation.
• Excellent general computer literacy skills as well as strong specialist knowledge of application software.
• Experience in design, construction, and maintenance of HV, LV and Process Control Systems.
