Electrical Estimator

Haines Contracting (QLD) is an establisehd electrical contractor specialising in commercial projects and service across Brisbane. 

Based in Brisbane's Western Suburbs, we provide electrical lighting, power and telecommunications services to the commercial sector. Our dedicated team pride themselves on providing customers with expert advice and professional customer service, with a key focus on safety and seamless project delivery. 

We are currently seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join our team.

Primary Objective

This primary purpose of this position will be to complete tender reviews and create detailed cost estimates for a wide variety of electrical projects.  Your main duties will include:

• Review and analyse project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to understand project requirements and scope
• Collaborate with the Project Manager and engineers to assess project timelines, potential risks, and unique project considerations
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for electrical projects, including material, labour, and equipment costs
• Utilise estimating software and historical cost data to ensure accurate and competitive tenders
• Develop comprehensive tender proposals, including all necessary documentation and pricing details
• Communicate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotes for materials and services
• Work closely with the Operations Manager and Project Manager to ensure alignment on project methodologies, strategies, and objectives
• Participate in pre-tender meetings and site visits to gain a deeper understanding of project requirements
• Verify that estimates are in compliance with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations
• Review and refine estimates to minimize errors and discrepancies
• Maintain organised records of project estimates, communications, and documentation
• Prepare and present cost analysis reports and updates to management as needed
• Monthly KPI Reporting

The Candidate

The successful candidate for this opportunity will be highly motivated, confident in their communication skills and have meticulous attention to detail. 

 You will also hold the following experience, skills and attributes:

• Demonstrated experience as an Electrical Estimator in the construction sector, with proven success tendering electrical projects between $50K - $5M
• Electrical trade qualification or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Proficiency in electrical estimation software and tools (SimPRO)
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, standards, codes and regulations
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy in estimating
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Construction Induction Card (White Card)
• Current Australian driver's licence
