The position
As the Electrical Project Engineer you will be accountable for the successful delivery of all required EI&C deliverables for Major Projects.
The core responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
- Ensure all E,I&C project and design deliverables are completed to the appropriate professional standards and meet applicable regulatory, engineering standards and internal specifications.
- Ensure all E,I&C deliverables are completed within the agreed schedule and within budget in a cost effective manner.
- Ensure all E,I&C project works are implemented without any recordable injuries or environmental reportable events.
- Perform technical investigations and analysis.
- Co-ordinate the development of E,I&C project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
- Develop a project plan for E,I&C works to monitor and track progress against the Master Schedule.
- Monitor & Control the execution of all required E,I&C design and project deliverables
- Review electrical designs detailed by internal and external designers.
- Development and application of Coogee E,I&C standards and specifications
- Define and develop E,I&C documentation requirements to ensure statutory, regulatory and internal expectations are consistently met.
- Develop E,I&C procedures to ensure there is a defined and consistent project delivery process for projects.
- Develop electrical scope of work documents and tender packages.
- Review tenders and vendor supplied documentation and check technical aspects against project specific standards and specifications.
- Develop construction, inspection test, verification plans and appropriate electrical, instrumentation and control commissioning documentation, as required.
- Assist the Project Manager to ensure installation and commissioning activities are carried out on-schedule an in accordance with design documentation and decisions.
- Manage and supervise electrical contractors' work schedules, cost and quality of work during construction and commissioning
- Assist to ensure handover documentation is consistent and all as-built information is supplied to the Client.
- Ensure consultants, contractors and suppliers are kept up to date with the latest decisions and documentation necessary to achieve project deliverables.
- Mentor and support electrical maintenance staff across WA facilities to ensure assets and installations comply with relevant standards and meet company expectations in terms of reliability and integrity.
The successful candidate
We are looking for a highly motivated individual who has:
- Formal qualification in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) is essential
- A member of Engineers Australia or eligible to become a member.
- Preferably a minimum of 5 years’ experience as an Electrical Engineer within the Process industry.
- Advance level proficiency in MS Office suite.
- Self‐motivated with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional time management and organisational skills
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to make decisions.
- Ability to assess, priorities and manage multiple activities/projects is essential.
- In-depth understanding of HV and LV electrical switchgear, Variable Frequency Drives and Process Instrumentation.
- Familiarity with High Voltage DC systems, DC Power Supplies, Rectifiers and Rectifier Transformers.
- In-depth understanding of Power Transformers operation and maintenance.
- Familiarity with Functional Safety and SIL (Safety Integrated Levels) systems and principles.
- Advanced knowledge of DCS and PLC systems is desirable.
- Familiarity with Electrical Design Software such as POWERCAD, EPlan and familiarity with AUTOCAD.
- Proficiency in Project Engineering & management of allocated E,I & C scope of works as part of a multi-disciplinary Ownerʼs EPCM team
- Team player and ability to communicate with people at all levels.
- Exposure to Hazardous Area Electrical Design and Classification.
- Must be familiar with Australian and International Electrical Engineering standards.
