Job Description - Project Engineer - Electrical (257672) We’re changing the way Australia generates its energy, are you ready for a change? The Project UGL has been appointed Principal Contractor for TransGrid’s Maragle Switching Station and Transmission Line Project based in Maragle in New South Wales, approx. 500km /southwest of Sydney, as part of the Snowy Mountain 2.0 Project. The work involves:

  • Design and construction of Maragle 330kV Switching Station and supporting works.
  • Design and construction of two 330kV transmission lines, cut into Line 64, the installation of OPGW on a section of Line 64, and supporting works.

About the role This role will be based on site on a 19:9 Roster. Working with guidance from the Project Manager, the Electrical Engineer is responsible for the production of design deliverables under direction from senior engineering staff. Their activities will involve coordinating design effort with other engineering disciplines and managing their required design outputs in a timely manner.

What will a day look like in this role

  • Design, integration & coordination, installation & commissioning of electrical systems and services required for the project
  • Coordination & integration of the design with other engineering design disciplines & services
  • Development / production of inspection & test and operating & maintenance manual documentation.
  • Directing drafting personnel for the production of design & installation drawings
  • Development / production of inspection & test and operating & maintenance manual documentation.
  • Provides written reports on engineering activities as required by the Project Manager

  • Electrical Engineering Qualification
  • Significant engineering experience throughout, design, construction and commissioning on Brownfields and Greenfields projects.
  • Strong communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally.
  • Proficient skills in computers: MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook
