  • Phosphate Hill Based Electrical/Instrumentation Technician

  • FIFO from the Townsville Region

The Role

We are seeking a trade-qualified electrical/instrument technician to join the Phosphate Hill team. Reporting to the lead EIC Engineer, you will provide specialist technical advice and services in relation to facility improvements, maintenance and operations.  To develop and maintain the standards and procedures for ongoing improvements to the site control system.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Actively identifies and develops individual Atlas review processes, including development planning.
  • Assist with investigation, outcome and corrective actions for injuries, incidents, audits and MHF actions
  • Results orientation particularly in the area of continuous improvement
  • Strategic thinking with an emphasis upon ‘whole of process’ operations.
  • Willing to obtain QMS 1, 2 and 3.
  • Selecting and designing instrumented systems.
  • Delivering training to employees and aligned engineering disciplines.

What you'll bring

To be considered for this role you must hold a Full Electrical Licence and/or Certificate III in Instrumentation (or equivalent). Experience in the mining/power generation/chemical/petrochemical industry will be looked upon favourably. Other required skills and experience include:

  •  Electrical and/or Instrumentation Trade Qualification
  • At least ten years experience with instrumentation commissioning and/or maintenance in chemical processing plants.
  • Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Area Management experience.
  • Experience maintaining industrial gas fired appliances.
  • Radiation Safety Officer experience – willing to lead team of RSOs.
  • Experience maintaining Control valves
  • Experience maintaining fault finding and maintaining Governor Systems
  • Experience maintaining and fault-finding fixed vibration systems

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Full Electrical Licence or Certificate III in Instrumentation
  • Current “C” Drivers Licence
  • Radiation Safety Officer Qualifications
  • Electrical Equipment in hazardous Areas Management

Our Northern Operations

Northern Australian Operations consists of an Ammonium Phosphate Mine and Processing Plant (Phosphate Hill) and Sulphuric Plant (Mt Isa) in North Queensland. The facilities comprise of ammonia, beneficiation, phosphoric acid, granulation and sulphuric acid plants plus infrastructure, utilities, power generation and housing to support the permanent workforce.
