Fortescue Hydrogen Systems are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer with experience in scope definition, detail design and commissioning activities of electrical systems. Suitable applicant shall have previous experience delivering electrical system design from concept through to implementation phase. In this role you will provide technical input to the design and operation of our green hydrogen business working in the Engineering Readiness team.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implementation of electrical engineering systems for the electrolyser and balance of plant across green hydrogen projects.
- Identify best practices related to the practical application of green hydrogen electrical systems and drive its adoption.
- Evaluate new technologies and concepts on electrical systems related to green hydrogen.
- Participate in functional safety and hazardous area design, including HAZOPs, LOPAS, SIL studies and other risk assessments.
- Assist in the design and selection of instrumentation, as well as the integration with control systems.
- Review of and input to P&ID's, single line diagrams, plant functional specification, etc.
- Work with OEM suppliers to develop optimal system designs as required.
- Work with other team members to establish project scopes of work, schedules, checklists, and reporting mechanisms to meet the project needs.
- Troubleshooting and optimisation of new and existing electrical design issues.
- Share electrical engineering expertise with the wider business groups and mentor younger engineers.
- Day to day review, revise and updating of engineering documents.
- Ensure Australian Standard installation compliance in all site works undertaken.
- Commitment to zero harm by following HSSE procedures, protocols, and initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary engineering qualifications (Electrical Engineering).
- Minimum 7+ years of detailed electrical design experience.
- Chartered Professional Engineer with Engineers Australia & RPEQ strongly preferred.
- Experience with high powered transformer and rectification systems.
- Experience with the electrical & control systems in the energy industry and their integration into complex process control systems.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and optimisation experience in the practical application of electrical system will be advantageous.
- A strong capability in adapting to multidisciplinary requirements and able to communicate a range of Engineering concepts and principles to others effectively.
- Knowledge of standards and regulations associated with electrical design, installation, and testing, especially in hazardous area environments.
- An ability to listen and identify key issues and to articulate complex information clearly.
- Excellent communication skills to initiate and develop relationships with a broad range of people.
- Experience with isolation processes, inspection and commissioning of new equipment circuits and plants.
- Demonstrated ability to work with limited supervision to set up processes and monitor own work achievements against agreed objectives.
