The opportunity:
Based at Smithfield Plant, as the Electrical and Instrumentation Craftsman your goal is to optimise system uptime and reliability, provide breakdown support, optimise run ability and do minor modifications, inspections and improvements. This applies to all electrical systems installed, such as MCC, HV switchgear, motors, instruments a and drives equipment.
The Role:
Reporting to Electrical and Instrument Supervisor, your key outcomes will be to;
- They will be first line response to all electrical and instrumentation issues
- Maintain facilities to ensure safe systems of work
- Reduce risk from electrical failure to people and equipment
- Undertake all E and I activities ensuring they are recorded using engineering CMMS.
- Repair and maintain electrical, instrument and control equipment to ensure plant reliability
- Manage installed equipment to ensure that all spare parts, software, firmware, backups, documentation and maintenance is completed
- Electrical testing conforms to functional specification and production requirements.
- Ensure all works are compliant with current regulations and certified
- Be responsible for certifying Visy’s electrical installations making sure site compliance to the regulations.
- Lead the disciplined focus on diagnostic (predictive) and preventative maintenance of all site EIC equipment, and ensure that a reactive, corrective maintenance environment does not develop.
- Ensure attendance of daily production meetings where required to discuss repair works, improvements and shuts
- The plant operates on a 7 day, 24 hour basis and the employee will be required to work normal hours and be part of an on call roster.
- Keep updated on latest technology and advancements in the industry to ensure we have best practice and the right equipment.
- Ensure the specification is identified of all electrical and instrument equipment required at site to support the purchasing of the correct equipment and spares
- Analyse and troubleshoot complex systems problems to develop short term plans and solutions to optimise paper production and ensure competitiveness in the market.
- Ensure consultation with employee health, safety and environment representatives, particularly on any workplace changes, which have a health and safety implications.
- Evaluate the H & S requirements prior to undertaking works, purchasing goods or services.
- There will be a significant involvement in projects, both large and small this will range from being asked to assist on relevant project issues of provide plant specific information .
What you will bring to the team:
- People management experience in a similar role.
- At least five years’ experience in an industrial maintenance role in a continuous process industry.
- At least five years’ experience in the Electrical, Instrument and Control disciplines.
- Intermediate understanding of Process Automation and Optimisation.
- VSD and DC drives experience in a continuous process industry
- Industrial EIC certification and training as required by legislation.
- A Grade electrical license
