About the Role

The role of the Specialist Employment Mentor will focus on supporting Ex-Offender or Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander customers by providing intensive mentoring to ensure their transition into employment is successful and sustained.

You’ll also experience the work/life balance that comes with working a 9-day fortnight, with a dedicated and fixed day off every second week. You will still receive the remuneration of a full-time employee in addition to the ability to salary sacrifice. This role is being offered on a full time, ongoing basis and will be based at the Coburg site. This role will require working across Coburg, Cheltenham, Fitzroy, Box Hill and Prahran sites.

About You

To be successful in the role you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Ability to use the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and ability to type (minimum 30 words per minute);
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse range of clients, employers and staff;
  • High level of interpersonal skills with an ability to represent Workskil Australia to our customers, funding bodies ,employers, RTOs, Indigenous Communities and other stakeholders;
  • Sound knowledge of the local labour market;
  • An understanding of case management framework;
  • Sales and customer service experience;
  • Extensive working knowledge of federally funded Employment Programs and funding models;
  • Experience mentoring Indigenous customers in employment;
  • Experience in working with ex-offenders in an employment or rehabilitation setting;
  • Proven ability to work in an outcome based, high pressure environment, positively and with enthusiasm;
  • Have a minimum Certificate IV in Employment Services or Career Development; and
  • Hold a current driver's licence and have own vehicle with the willingness to travel across the region.

It would be advantageous for the preferred candidate to identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait islander or have extensive experience working with customers within this cohort.

Remuneration

A competitive salary will be negotiated commensurate with skills and experience. As Workskil Australia is a public benevolent institution, we can also offer a portion of the salary through tax effective salary packaging.
