Cruise is one of the biggest commercial opportunities at Luxury Escapes. The 2021 total worldwide ocean cruise industry is estimated at $23.8 billion and Luxury Escapes is just getting started!

Our Sydney office is on Kent Street - a short walk from Wynyard station and close to great cafes in Barangaroo.
Luxury Escapes is an in-person company, with 4 days in the office, and 1-day WFH.
About the team
Our cross-functional teams include Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers focused on delivering solutions and solving problems rather than simply completing tickets. The structure is flat, and the process is lean, with a culture of MVP, iteration, and "build, measure, learn" at the heart of everything we do. We share in-depth experience in Node/Typescript, React, PostgreSQL, AWS SQS, SNS, S3 Lambda, and more.
What you'll do
You'll be responsible for building the future of cruises at Luxury Escapes. To do this, you will collaborate with our internal product and commercial teams to build a vision and then lead the team of engineers to implement it. We've recently rebuilt our cruise platform from the ground up and now our goal is to expand and add great value for our customers.
Cruise is a highly complex domain, the team is working on some interesting challenges, including:
- Highly performant cruise search that can search thousands of cruises by destinations, cruise line, departure months, price etc. (OpenSearch, GeoJSON, PostGis, Redis).
- Ingesting 10k+ sailings every day from all over the world and automatically curating cruise offers for our customers.
- Enhancing our booking flow with the best-in-class UX.
- Multi cabin bookings, marketing feeds, rebuilding internal rate systems + much more.
At Luxury Escapes all engineers, regardless of level, have a desire to remain hands-on with their coding - so if you want an immersive environment where you can truly influence the success of a highly trafficked platform - this could be the role for you!
Relevant skills:
- JavaScript / Node.js / Typescript.
- React (our frontend uses react and redux).
- SQL (we use PostgreSQL).
- RESTful API design.
- Automated testing and continuous integration.
- Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience working in an agile team environment, continuously shipping environment.
- Strong expertise in software architecture and design patterns, focusing on micro-services.
