Engineering Manager

POSITION OVERVIEW

ATTRIBUTES & QUALIFICATIONS

• A degree in engineering, preferably civil, mechanical, environmental, chemical or a related field.
• Professional / Chartered engineer qualification
• 10+ years proven experience in technical sales support, engineering, and project delivery and management.
• Previous experience managing a team will be highly regarded
• Strong understanding of water treatment processes and membrane (UF, MF, RO) systems.
• Thorough understanding of water treatment chemistry
• Understanding of drinking and recycling regulations
• Understand “value in use” concepts
• Experience with Biological system (MBR) design
• Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Able to run presentations and workshops at industry events
• Is well known within the water treatment industry and has a network that includes major construction industry players.
• Proficient in project management software and engineering design tools.
• Knowledge of IP protection and patent management is a plus.
• Proven project management and budgeting skills.
• Commitment to sustainability, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical Responsibilities:

• Oversee detailed engineering design process
• Coordinate with the production team for seamless execution.
• Oversee development of control narratives for effective system operation
• Supervise installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of membrane systems
• Project feasibility assessment & technical sales support during acquisition phase - develop concept designs, provide budgetary pricing etc.
• Manage quality assurance processes
• Design Membrane Bioreactors (MBRs)
• Innovate new application for UF, RO and other membrane processes
• Selection and Sizing of Kovalus Separation Solutions' (KSS, formerly Koch Separation Solutions)Membrane products based on project requirements
• Manage and oversee fabrication of installation accessories, supervise installation, commissioning & integrity testing of KSS projects

Administrative & Managerial Responsibilities:

• Oversee project scheduling and management.
• Liaise with subcontractors and manage their activities
• Oversee project documentation and compliance.
• Coordinate with the production team for seamless execution.
• Develop and standardise process workflows for sales handover, engineering and production
• Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project success.
• Guide and manage an engineering team comprising process, project, application, and field service engineers.
• Set performance expectations, provide coaching, and mentor team members to ensure their professional growth.
• Recruit and onboard engineering staff as needed.
• Oversee resource allocation, task assignment, and project scheduling.
• Monitor team performance and ensure projects are executed effectively and efficiently.

Commercial Responsibilities:

• Manage relationships with suppliers, ensuring a smooth supply chain
• Budgeting, cost control & optimisation to ensure profitability
• Prepare & manage bids and proposals to secure projects.
• Develop cost effective solutions for customer requirements
