The Role
The Directorate of Engineering and Logistics, within Maritime Integrated Warfare Systems Branch (MIWS), is seeking a professional, motivated and experienced EL2 Engineering Operations Director.
The position will manage and provide oversight of the Engineering Operations for the Engineering and Logistics (E&L) team, reporting to the Executive Director E&L in their capacity as the Branch Principal Engineer. The Branch is accredited as an Authorised Engineering Organisation (AEO).
The specific duties of this role include:
- Establish, implement and maintain an Engineering Management System for the Branch.
- Manage engineering governance and assurance activities, maintaining currency of the Branch engineering management plans.
- Manage the MIWS Engineering authority delegation framework and technical support network.
- Influence and liaise with multiple stakeholders internally and externally.
- Manage the technical quality control framework.
- Manage and develop the engineering workforce, including training and development.
- Maintain MIWS E&L battle rhythm including the provision of AEO guidance to projects and products team through regular E&L manager meetings and to the Principal Engineer.
- Provide engineering tools to ensure consistency in Integrated Warfare System delivery and commonality across the RAN Surface Fleet and Undersea Warfare Systems.
- We are seeking a candidate to provide people and intellectual leadership to the MIWS E&L workforce and projects and products to deliver cutting edge capabilities.
The position works in an integrated workforce to deliver Subject Matter Expertise to projects/products across the Branch. This role operates within a fast paced, complex and dynamic work environment, requiring the incumbent to be flexible and willing to help other work areas within the Branch in support of the broader MIWS Branch outcomes.

Engineering and Logistics provides Subject Matter Expert technical advice, and control of engineering design and manages baselines for Combat Systems, Combat Management Systems and Undersea Warfare Systems for surveillance, survey, magnetic treatment, acoustic treatment, acoustic tracking, torpedo and mine countermeasures.
Engineering and Logistics has achieved, and will continue to maintain, the requirements for Accredited Engineering Organisation and Authorised Materiel Seaworthiness Delivery Organisation to deliver Maritime Mission Systems in accordance with its Capability Manager's Operating Support and Intent.
