The Role
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Technologist to join our fast-growing team. You will play a crucial role in the design, development, and optimisation of mechanical components and systems for Calumino Thermal Sensors. Your expertise will contribute to creating innovative and high-quality products that meet market demands and exceed customer expectations.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with R&D engineers to contribute to the design and development of thermal sensors technology performance.
- Utilise CAD software to create detailed drawings and schematics for thermal sensor components.
- Assist in the prototyping of thermal sensors and systems.
- Conduct and analyse test and experiment outcomes to evaluate the performance, accuracy, and reliability of thermal sensors under different conditions.
- Implement robust engineering solutions to calibrate thermal sensors to ensure accuracy and reliability in measuring temperature.
- Validate sensor performance through testing and analysis, ensuring adherence to specifications.
- Identify and resolve technical issues related to thermal sensors, including calibration problems or sensor drift.
- Perform routine maintenance and preventive measures to ensure long-term sensor functionality.
- Integrate thermal sensors into larger systems or products, working closely with optical, electronic and mechanical components.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with other technologies.
- Analyse data collected by thermal sensors to draw conclusions about temperature patterns and trends.
- Interpret thermal data for applications such as process optimisation, environmental monitoring, or product performance analysis.
- Prepare technical documentation, including mechanical drawings, testing protocols, and performance specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of calibration results, testing outcomes, and sensor specifications.
- Stay informed about industry standards and regulations related to thermal sensors.
- Ensure that thermal sensing technologies comply with relevant safety and regulatory requirements.
- Quality Assurance: Implement robust quality control measures to ensure that finished products meet Calumino's high-quality standards and customer expectations.
- Stay updated on advancements in thermal sensing technology and industry trends.
- Pursue professional development opportunities and certifications specific to thermal sensing.
- Provide technical support to engineers, researchers, and other stakeholders using or implementing thermal sensing technologies.
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in mechanical design and development, preferably in the consumer electronics or industrial sensors industry.
- Proficiency in CAD software, specifically SolidWorks, for 3D modelling and 2D drawings. Experience with a Product Data Management (PDM) system is advantageous.
- Knowledge of thermal and structural analysis tools such as Solidworks Simulations, Ansys, COMSOL.
- Knowledge of advanced manufacturing processes such as wafer scale manufacturing, precision bonding, optical glass moulding and SPDT is advantageous.
- Experience in high-precision optical product/system design, tolerance analysis and statistical process control knowledge is advantageous.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Fluent verbal and written English and comfortable with technical terms.
Our office is in South Eveleigh, near Redfern station, with the option to work from home one day a week. Salary range $60-80K + super based on experience.
