Teacher Role Requirements
- Recognised teacher education qualifications and accredited to teach in NSW schools via NESA.
- Ability and qualifications to teach English.
At Chevalier College, teachers strategically work in teams to collaboratively plan, prepare, teach, assess and evaluate student learning. As such, they are required to:
- support and assist the mission of Catholic education in the way of Jules Chevalier and the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart (MSC)
- see themselves as learners and be committed to ongoing professional learning
- work collaboratively with other teachers to design learning experiences where students exercise choice to demonstrate knowledge and understanding
- enhance social skills and nurture the growth of enterprise skills including learner agency, self-regulated learning, critical thinking, creativity, communication and collaboration for each student
- use summative data and formative data, including observations, annotations and work samples, to inform ‘next steps’ for key learning outcomes
- demonstrate deep understanding of curriculum which informs subject disciplinary knowledge
- use digital technology as an enabler and accelerator for student and teacher learning
- regularly provide students with feedback as part of the teaching and learning cycle
- be open to growth and development through professional learning experiences which include classroom observations, practice analysis conversations and input from Leaders of Learning
- uphold an extracurricular commitment which requires afternoon coaching 2 days a week and attendance at Saturday fixtures for 10-12 weeks for the winter season and,
- know and apply New South Wales Education Standards Authority (NESA) guidelines.
Other
- Full-time, permanent position commencing Term 2.
- Salary and conditions will be as per the NSW Catholic Independent Schools (Teachers – Model B) Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2020 (to be updated by Term 2 2024).
- This is a child-related position. Preferred candidates are required to possess a valid a Working With Children Check and will be subject to identification verification.
