About the role
We're seeking an Environment Manager to lead our Queensland region as the subject matter expert in environmental management, ensuring we meet our environmental obligations and contributing to the overall Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) culture.

Day-to-day, you will:
- Manage a team of Environmental Specialists in Queensland to deliver high-quality environmental support across our road and tunnel network, major delivery projects, and green and brownfield growth opportunities within Queensland.
- Lead environmental management for Queensland, ensuring our environmental requirements are identified, understood, managed, and complied with by all relevant stakeholders, internally and externally.
- Understand our environmental risks and routinely review environmental datasets (e.g., air and water quality,) to understand trends and inform stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain key business relationships, provide strong environmental leadership and compliance focus while championing continuous improvement across the Queensland region.
- Coordinate environment assurance activities in line with Market and wider business requirements.
- Support the implementation of enterprise environment initiatives and programs.
- Manage relevant environment data and reporting requirements to support direct and wider business functions. This may include supporting the Sustainability Team with the preparation ESG related reporting.
This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:
- A Senior/manager level environment professional, ideally with experience in an operational and/or infrastructure environment, supporting multiple sites, together with a relevant Science or Engineering tertiary qualification.
- Experience managing, leading and motivating a team to deliver to a high standard.
- Technical expertise in air quality and/or water quality is highly desirable.
- Strong working knowledge and practical application of environmental legislation, standards, and codes across the Queensland region.
- Effective verbal communication to lead and influence stakeholders and staff toward a culture of continuous improvement in environmental performance and exceptional written communication, particularly for report writing.
- Experience working with Government and Council agencies in relation to environmental issues, initiatives and management.
- Experience in the implementation of environmental and integrated management systems and the application of ISO14001.
