Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Environment Officer to join our team. This pivotal role involves administering environmental compliance, conducting impact assessments, and developing strategies to mitigate environmental risks associated with development projects in Australia’s marine estate. The ideal candidate will collaborate with our clients and other stakeholders to integrate sustainable practices into project planning and operations.
 

Key Responsibilities
•Environmental Compliance: Ensure that all projects comply with relevant environmental laws and regulations. Conduct regular audits and site inspections.


•Environmental Assessments: Prepare environmental impact assessments for proposed offshore activities, identifying potential pathways for impacts and recommending mitigation measures.
 

•Stakeholder consultation: Contribute to consultation activities under supervision with a wide range of stakeholders to gather inputs into environmental assessments.
 

•Client Consultation: Provide expert environmental advice to clients, helping them to integrate environmental considerations into activity design and execution strategies.
 

•Sustainability Initiatives: Design and promote sustainability programs that enhance environmental performance and reduce the environmental footprint of projects.
 

•Innovate and Improve: Create initiatives that further the reduction of environmental impacts and risks and solve industry wide issues that present barriers to efficient and effective environmental management.
 

•Reporting and Documentation: Prepare detailed reports on environmental assessments, compliance activities, and sustainability initiatives for internal and client review.


Qualifications & Experience
Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, or a related field and a Master’s degree in Environmental Science is highly regarded.
Experience: Minimum two years of experience in environmental management, preferably in the offshore or energy sector.
 

Essential Skills
•Strong understanding of environmental regulations and impact assessment methodologies.
 

•Excellent ability to assess risks and devise practical solutions.
 

•Effective communication skills, capable of engaging with clients, regulatory agencies, and internal teams.
 

•Experience in managing environmental projects, including planning, execution, and monitoring.
