About Us: Sibanye-Stillwater Australia (SSWA), a subsidiary of Sibanye-Stillwater Limited, is a prominent mining, tailings management, and economic rehabilitation company. Our operations include the Century Mine and Karumba Port in Queensland, featuring the largest tailings remining and processing operation in Australia. Additionally, we are progressing with the Mt Lyell Copper Mine redevelopment project in Tasmania, focusing on sustainable underground operations.
Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Environmental Advisor to join our team and drive environmental initiatives across our assets. This role offers a diverse and rewarding opportunity to contribute to environmental management and improvement programs at Mt Lyell.
This position will be offered as a Residential role out of Mt Lyell on a family friendly 5/2 roster (10 hours per day).
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate statutory water quality sampling, dust, noise & vibration monitoring, and maintain monitoring databases.
- Implement environmental inspections and audits, including dams and pollution control infrastructure, flora & fauna.
- Assist with preparation of internal and external environmental reporting, including statutory AER, NPI, NGERS, and Sibanye Stillwater Australia sustainability reports.
- Assist with incident investigation and coordinate corrective actions.
- Coordinate waste, energy & water management programs, including implementing avoidance, minimisation, recycling, and reuse principles.
- Assist with the implementation of Sibanye Stillwater Australia sustainability goals.
- Develop and deliver environmental awareness programs to site personnel, contractors, and the community.
- Provide backup for the Environmental Manager.
- Maintain oversight and maintenance of the electronic health & safety management system, ensuring incident reports, investigations, corrective actions, and other safety actions are up to date and reported in a timely manner.

Position Required Capabilities:
Skills:
- Computer literacy, particularly in databases and Microsoft Office software.
- Strong team ethic with the ability to self-manage and direct.
- Highly developed verbal, written communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to operate according to quality systems, legislation, company policy, and procedures.
- Ability to educate for and reinforce site safety systems.
- Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
Knowledge:
- State and Federal Legislation, Australian Standards, Code of Practices, Guidance Notes.
Experience:
- Extensive experience in environmental roles and in Open Cut or Underground Mining operations.
Education, Qualifications, Tickets, Licences:
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental, Scientific, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Current Australian Driver’s Licence.
- First Aid or equivalent.
- Experience with ISO, NGERS, and NPI reporting.
