- Hiring Stormwater Education Officer and Erosion and Sediment Education Officer
- 35 hours a week (no weekend work)
- March-August contract
Key responsibilities may include, but aren't limited to:
- Developing, implementing, improving and promoting engagement and education programs to the development industry and the wider community
- Educating communities on current issues, legal responsibilities and positive action related to the cause
- Liaising and fostering collaborative partnerships with key community organisations, the development industry and relevant internal and external stakeholders
- Participating in relevant regional programs and catchment management groups
- Providing expertise and advice to other parties on effective community engagement strategies
- Monitoring and reporting relevant budget and strategic considerations
- Upholding a good standard of leadership by providing direction and feedback to maintain individual accountability, enable team success, and achieve business and operational objectives
- Managing volunteers when required
- Documenting all work and maintaining up-to-date records
- Solid working experience (at least 1 year) in the development of Environmental Education materials, strategies, policies and programs related to the environmental field of work
- Demonstrated high-level oral and written communication skills, including the ability to deliver presentations, write strategies, education materials and reports
- Must be able to manage multiple tasks/projects concurrently
- Current class C drivers licence
- Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively work with internal and external stakeholders
- Computer literacy in basic Microsoft Office applications and the ability to quickly learn corporate applications
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service
- Experience in managing a project budget (desirable)
- Relevant local government experience (desirable)
- Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or related field
- Sound knowledge of environmental issues relating to stormwater
Specific qualifications and experience for Erosion and Sediment Education Officer:
- Degree in Environmental Management, sustainability or related field, or equivalent qualification from an advanced tertiary institution
- Excellent knowledge and application of best practice erosion and sediment control measures
- Sound knowledge of environmental legislative requirements for the building industry
