The Role

A new opportunity has arisen with the Town of Port Hedland's Environmental Health Services Unit. We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team as Environmental Health Officer. Reporting to the Manager of Environmental Health Services, this role offers the chance to provide valuable support and advice to both internal and external customers while working with then newest technology in the sector. As a successful candidate, you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your practical application and communication of contemporary Environmental Health knowledge.

Within this role, you will gain accreditation as a commercial drone pilot to undertake aerial mosquito control treatments and support the implementation of the Towns Public Health plan. Supporting the regional community of Port Hedland, you will provide critical emergency Environmental Health support to the region after major weather events. You will have the opportunity to work closely with government, industry as well as internal and community stakeholders to safely deliver major events, pest control and other programs that impact the region. To succeed in this position, you will require a well-developed understanding of food hazards and associated legislation as well as experience of wastewater systems and water sampling. Our ideal candidate will also be able to demonstrate knowledge of the Food Act 2008, Public Health Act 2016 and other relevant legislation.

Work Related Requirements

The preferred applicant will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol assessment to be considered for the role, as well as possess:

• Bachelor of Applied Science (Environmental Health) and experience in a similar role
• National Police Clearance
• Current 'C' class drivers license
• Rights to work in Australia
