Assist in the identification of requirements for the Cadia Integrated Tailings Project compliant with regulatory and internal requirements – as well as activities and reporting to achieve and demonstrate this compliance and best practice.

This project focused role will be offered initially as a 2-year fixed term contract, based in Orange NSW.

Operations near and far  

Cadia Valley Operations is located in Central Western New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional township of Orange and a convenient three hours from the capital city of Sydney. Employees reside in varied accommodation options in and around the district of Orange with the surrounding area’s occupied by wineries, stone fruit orchards, farming and national parks.

Who we’re looking for  

As Environmental Monitoring and Compliance Advisor, you will contribute to ensure that all social and environmental work for the delivery of the Cadia Integrated Tailings Project is undertaken in a safe manner consistent with site and project safety requirements. You will provide visible safety leadership through regular performance of FCCC’s and safety interactions.

• Undertaking infield inspections, issuing corrective actions, tracking closure of those actions and ensuring Environmental Monitoring and reporting is completed as per Project requirements.
• Monitoring and report project performance against approved plans.
• Support the Environmental and Compliance Lead and the HSEC Manager role holders through engagements with stakeholders about environmental and/or community matters.
• Ensure continual improvement of environmental performance through the identification and mitigation of construction risks.
• Effective liaison with operational technical, environmental, safety, and community relations teams to deliver successful strategic plans regarding environmental approvals.
• Lead and deliver effective incident investigations to optimise learning and prevent re-occurrence.
• Manage and coordinate environmental contractors and contracts as required.
• Contribute to the completion of internal and external auditing processes.
• Developing and implementation of Monitoring and management plans.
• Assisting the Environment and Approvals Lead with Weekly/Monthly reporting requirements.
• Interfacing with CVO environmental department on matters of process for the project such as EIP’s and ensuring that the project maintains an aligned approach to approvals and delivers best for business outcomes.
• Develop EIPs for approval to support appropriate management of all new disturbances.
• Contribute to the research, development and maintenance of relevant plans and procedures.

You will also possess the following: 

• Tertiary qualified with a degree in environmental science or related discipline
• At least 5 years demonstrated environmental experience, preferably within mining or equivalent heavy industry setting.
• A detailed understanding of the NSW and Commonwealth planning, mining and environmental legislation
