You’ll be able to work close to home in a dynamic setting featuring cafes and retail options set amongst heritage buildings and open green spaces.The OpportunitySupport our Environmental Services team to work with Council and the community to protect biodiversity and the natural environment in a context of rapid urban development and a changing climate.In addition to a range of environmental and land management programs, the team is responsible for responding to environmental referrals from the statutory planning system, which involves assessing planning permit applications, construction environment management plans (CEMPs), weed management plans (WMPs) and related documentation.Key Responsibilities
- Assist with Environmental Planning referrals and provision of Environmental Planning advice to applicants and the community.
- Support the Environmental Services Team on a range of projects and programs to enhance biodiversity and the natural environment within the City of Melton.
- Assist with the preparation and implementation of environmental policies and strategies.
- Contribute to the protection of nationally endangered grassland, woodland and wetland communities and other environmental assets in a rapidly growing area.
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Planning, environmental science, natural resource management or related field with little or no relevant work experience, or lesser formal qualification with relevant work skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Federal and State biodiversity and conservation legislation.
- Knowledge of the Victorian Planning Scheme as it relates to the Environmental Planning process.
- Understanding of biodiversity and native vegetation management.
- Current valid Victorian Driver’s Licence.
