About the role
We have a permanent opportunity for a Specialist - Environment to assist Water Corporation in supporting operations in maintaining compliance with environmental legislation and approvals and providing wider business support in environmental advice which will include technical / operational, approvals, strategy, and risk.
In this role you will have the opportunity to support the Water Corporation’s operations and asset delivery and planning groups in fulfilling environmental compliance obligations, including supporting environmental monitoring and reporting requirements and through providing technical Environmental Risk advice associated with Water Corporation wastewater assets across the full project lifecycle.
This role will be based in our Leederville office and will report to the Team Leader – Operations Asset Support within the Operations and Asset Services Section on the Environment Business Unit.
What the role will involve
· Lead projects to ensure compliance obligations with licence conditions are met and support environmental monitoring and reporting business improvements.
· Project manage internal and external stakeholders to deliver environmental investigations / monitoring across the full project lifecycle in Water Corporation wastewater assets.
· Provide technical advice on compliance matters / incidents and support the investigation of non-compliances / incidents and development / implementation of corrective actions
· Provide internal advice, guidance and support regarding operational assets across the full project lifecycle.
· Ensure environmental compliance obligations are communicated during the asset handover process.
· Lead and implement strategic improvements to enhance the environmental services offered to the business.
Key skills and experience
· Tertiary level qualification in environmental science, engineering or similar discipline, along with demonstrated experience in Environmental Risk assessment process in relation to regulatory requirements, operations, planning, and approvals.
· Sound knowledge of relevant State and Commonwealth legislation associated with environmental management in the water industry (particularly the Environmental Protection Act 1986).
· Capability to work independently, within teams and the ability to establish constructive working relations within the Water Corporation and external contractors and stakeholders.
· Well-developed written and oral communication skills to foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to contractors, government agencies, community and interest groups to facilitate environmental management outcomes.
