The role
Reporting to the Head of Quality, Compliance and Sustainability, this newly created role will be responsible for the ongoing implementation, governance, and continual improvement of the Ethical Sourcing strategy and framework. Framework includes supplier performance reporting, critical breach management, identification of emerging risks, and business mitigation plans to ensure sourcing activities across the entire supply chain is executed successfully.
This role interfaces with the Wesfarmers Group and acts as a communication channel to all WIS business units to ensure consistent messaging of Wesfarmers requirements, standards, and reporting. Additional responsibilities include:
- Ongoing implementation, reporting, and governance, as well as review and continuous improvement of the Ethical Sourcing management system (development and management of policies, risk profile, procedures, processes, training tools, internal audits, external audit review, reporting etc.)
- Develop and continually review/improve the risk matrix and implementation strategy for the Modern Slavery program for the entire supply chain.
- Benchmarking the Ethical Sourcing program against international standards and industry best practice to ensure Blackwoods continually strive towards best in class, including emerging risk identification and remediation plans.
- Manage suppliers through the supplier and manufacturer accreditation approval program – review and approve the Ethical Sourcing policy and acknowledgement, risk assessment, Sedex onboarding, ethical audit non-conformances, critical breach investigation, remediation, reporting and training/capacity building.
- Deliver the learning and development program toensure internal teams are trained and educated on Ethical Sourcing content and compliance
With a strong educational background in Law, Social Sciences, Human Rights, or equivalent, you will bring a demonstrated track record in the Ethical Sourcing or sustainability supply chain arena. You are a team player with strong analytical skills, with the ability to clearly articulate the value of Ethical Sourcing and impact it can have on business outcomes. You are known as someone who thrives on change and operating in an actioned oriented entrepreneurial environment.
You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, combined with a proactive approach to identifying risks, devising solutions, and bring excellent research and data analysis capabilities.
In addition, you will possess the following:
- 5 + years’ experience in Ethical Sourcing, including roll out of global responsible supply chain programs and expertise relating to Australia’s Modern Slavery Act.
- Exposure to the FMCG, apparel or fashion, food & beverage or similar sectors with highly complex supply chains and overseas suppliers.
- Experience using Sedex.
- Internal stakeholder engagement and presenting (Board, Leadership teams) skills.
- External stakeholder management experience with suppliers.
