After a wonderful set of years with our outgoing Executive Chef, we’re beginning a new chapter - including a full venue concept overhaul at our oldest venue. 

It’s an opportunity for the right candidate to establish a defining benchmark for quality and creativity.

About the company

The Northside Social Group is a hospitality focussed company based in Melbourne’s inner north. A rare opportunity to join the team as Executive Chef and oversee the culinary operations for Bodriggy Brewpub, Dr Morse, Plug Nickel and the newly opened Albion Hotel is now available.

The Northside Social Group specialises in innovative, lively venues with unique and individual concepts. 

We are looking for a candidate with:
 

  • Previous experience as either an Executive Chef, Executive Sous or senior Head Chef in a quality high-volume kitchen environment 
  • Experience in writing, creating and costing menus 
  • A diverse range of culinary knowledge inclusive of multiple different cuisines, styles of service and operations
  • An understanding of costed rostering and ordering experience
  • Experience in building a team and managing effective relationships
  • A proven track record of leading successful kitchen teams in multiple different locations
  • Experience in recruiting, salary negotiation, conducting staff appraisals, writing staff contracts &  job descriptions
  • An understanding of the Melbourne hospitality industries trends and service standards
  • An ability to manage underperforming staff
  • A passion for the hospitality- culinary industry and an ability to drive a team to perform on a consistent basis
  • An understanding of kitchen budgets, food and labour costings
  • Experience in managing and maintaining food safety program including documentation
  • Knowledge of OH&S standards and procedure
  • An ability to manage time efficiently  
  • A professional and calm demeanour
  • Qualification in Commercial Cookery or equivalent
