The Victorian Associations of Performing Arts Centres (VAPAC) is looking for their next Executive Director.
About us
Incorporated in 1985, VAPAC is a membership-based, peak industry body supporting a network of professional performing arts venues across Victoria, Tasmania, NSW, and the ACT. VAPAC’s membership represents a significant part of Australia’s cultural infrastructure.
VAPAC supports the network through three core streams:
- Delivering a comprehensive and targeted program of networking and professional development programs,
- Creating touring opportunities for artists through the delivery of our annual marketplace, Showcase Victoria,
- Effective advocacy to governments and other stakeholders. We also work closely with other state and federal peak industry bodies in collaborative efforts to address sector challenges.
The Role
The VAPAC Executive Director must have a drive and passion for the performing arts and can initiate and deliver strategic outcomes through active engagement with the sector for the network’s benefit. The position is supported by an Executive Committee and a small, experienced team.
The role requires an experienced and connected industry leader with outstanding communication skills, business acumen and the ability to develop relationships across its stakeholder group. The Executive Director will be a strategic thinker with experience in or sound knowledge of the performing arts in Victoria and nationally.
The Executive Directors purpose:
- Have a commitment to the goals and objectives of the Association.
- Support the Executive Committee to fulfil the Association’s purpose
- Deliver on the Association’s strategic priorities
- Oversee and direct the Association’s operations
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the delivery of the organisation’s strategic plan.
- Governance and compliance, including financial, risk management, and annual reporting.
- Team leadership and management.
- Stakeholder management and membership development and engagement.
- Project and event management.
- Advocacy and policy development.
