About the Executive Director, Climate Science, Analytics and Adaptation
Reporting directly to the Deputy Director-General Climate, you will develop proactive and innovative climate change policies, offering your expert strategic and technical advice to senior Government Officials including the Director-General and Minister, particularly on topics directly impacting the Government’s climate change objectives and stakeholder expectations.
Your strategic vision and operational skills will be pivotal in leading the department's contributions to inter-jurisdictional policy development, directly influencing the Government's climate change goals and you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing climate adaptation and resilience programs, alongside climate scientific modelling initiatives.
This leadership position offers an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of Queensland's climate change policy and will require a strategic thinker with problem-solving acumen and a strong commitment to consultative climate action. You will establish collaborative partnerships with agencies, government entities, industry partners and the Commonwealth Government, advocating for Queensland’s climate ambitions and your leadership will foster a workplace culture of equity, diversity, respect and inclusion, while driving a high performing team.

Your high-level understanding of policy, regulatory and commercial issues will be essential in promoting the effectiveness and efficiency of the public service, taking personal responsibility for delivering government objectives and driving excellence in service delivery.
You will need impactful and persuasive communication skills to effectively advocate for the department and establish relationships with a broad range of partners and stakeholders. Demonstrable experience in leading policy initiatives and delivering innovative programs is crucial, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills with your ability to adapt rapidly to change, communicate complex concepts strategically and manage risk driving greater impact.
An understanding of contemporary environmental and sustainable development trends, along with a commitment to ethical behaviour and respect for diverse perspectives is essential for success in this role.
