We are seeking an experienced, strategic executive to lead a critical portfolio within OIR. As the Executive Director Industrial Relations, you will have specific legislative, policy, regulatory and advisory responsibilities for Industrial Relations (including in the State’s public sector), labour hire licensing and related matters and provide strategic direction to the planning, development and implementation of government priorities.
Reporting to the Deputy Director-General, Office of Industrial Relations, you will provide strategic, tactical and operational advice on complex Industrial Relations issues, including expert advice and assistance to the Queensland Government as the employer in the Queensland Public Sector. You will be responsible for maintaining strong and effective relationships with senior executives across Queensland Government departments and agencies and stakeholders in other jurisdictions, and collaborate on a diverse range of issues for the betterment of the sector as a whole.
To be successful in this role, you will be an influential and strategic leader with strong integrity and knowledge and understanding of the Industrial Relations and public sector landscape. You are recognised for your ability to build and maintain a high performing, inclusive and service-focused team culture and have a consultative approach aligned internally and externally with the achievement of the priorities of the government of the day. You will have demonstrated success and proven experience as a leader within a large and complex organisation, as well as a strong background in Industrial Relations, public sector bargaining and policy implementation.
Additionally, you have the capacity to apply innovative and future-focused thinking to solving complex problems and be adept at leading change and navigating the political environment. Your skill as an accomplished negotiator, and your ability to leverage your relationships and provide sound strategic advice and guidance, will support quality and informed decision making at the state and national levels and drive major reform.
