We are seeking an outstanding senior executive to provide high-level strategic financial advice and drive crucial financial and risk management initiatives.
Reporting to the Deputy Director-General, Corporate, you will be responsible for:
- Providing strategic and operational advice to the DAF Leadership Board, the Director-General, Deputy Directors-General, key governance committees, senior management and key central agency stakeholders about financial and risk management.
- Driving the business plan incorporating investment prioritisation, budgeting, statistical analysis and action plans to assess risk and enable appropriate management of financial resources.
- Leading and managing an engaged finance department ensuring optimal performance and development of individuals.
- Managing the processes for financial forecasting and budgets and oversee the preparation of all financial reporting.
- Leading the department's enterprise procurement function
- Providing strategic oversight and optimisation of the department's infrastructure and asset portfolio
- Championing the department's climate strategy and coordinating reporting associated with climate initiatives.
- Establishing and developing strong working relationships with senior management and external partners and stakeholders.
- Developing appropriate strategies and policy frameworks that safeguard compliance and excellence in governance.
- Supporting internal customer business groups to assist them in their implementation of the business plans.
- Fostering cross-business group and cross-sector collaboration to assess risk and develop contingencies and options to protect the sustainable delivery of services.
The successful candidate will hold qualification as a:
- Certified practicing accountant conferred by CPA Australia, or
- Chartered accountant conferred by the institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, or
- Professional accountant conferred by the Institute of Public Accountants.
