THE ROLE
Macquarie University is recruiting for a new and exciting position of Executive Director, Strategic Opportunities to join the Office of the Vice President Strategy, Performance and Planning.

• Salary Package: Negotiated Senior Contract based on experience, plus 17% employer's superannuation.
• Appointment Type: Full Time, 5-year fixed term contract.
• Location: Macquarie University, Wallumattagal Campus at North Ryde

What you will do
The Executive Director, Strategic Opportunities plays a vital role in advancing the University's growth and revenue generation objectives. Leading collaborative efforts across Faculties and Offices, you will support the University to identify and realise new revenue opportunities and strategic partnerships. Through data-driven decision-making and well-structured business cases, you will facilitate informed choices by senior leadership, ensuring the University's long-term sustainability and competitiveness. Collaborating with diverse stakeholders, you will build consensus and support for initiatives that optimise revenue streams and enhance the institution's reputation and impact in education and research.

The Vice-President Strategy, Planning and Performance (VPSPP) holds executive responsibility for the development and execution of university strategy, cross-institutional planning, and oversight of whole of University Group performance. To support these goals, The VPSPP supports the Vice-Chancellor, Executive Group and University Council in ensuring the long-term sustainability and strategic direction of the University and its group subsidiaries. We are now at a stage where this work has come to its inflection point, with its next five-year whole of institution strategy (including The University Operating Plan 2024 – 2028)
The VPSPP portfolio embraces the University’s mission to be bold, distinctive, progressive and transformational. Working closely with the Vice-President, Strategy, Planning and Performance and in close partnership with other members of the University’s senior leadership team, the EDSO will bring leadership to inspire and drive the University’s growth and revenue generation objectives.
Selection Criteria
To be considered for this position, your application must demonstrate the following selection criteria by providing a cover letter with examples of your relevant experience and achievements:

• Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning and business development, with a trusted track record of identifying and realising revenue opportunities.
• Knowledge and expertise in labour-market demand, University rankings, online education and international and domestic student recruitment markets.
• Excellent systematic and deductive decision-making skills, translating data insights into actionable strategies.
• Ability to foster collaboration and build consensus among diverse stakeholders, both internally and externally.
• Excellent leadership and management skills with a passion for driving teams towards achieving strategic objectives.
• Resourceful, innovative, and adaptable, thriving in a dynamic higher education environment.

Desirable but not essential:

• Knowledge of higher education industry trends, strategic planning in the education sector and emerging labour market demands.
• Experience in cultivating and managing strategic partnerships and collaborations within the education and research community.
