Reporting to the Deputy Director-General, Corporate and with four direct reports, this position offers a unique opportunity for a senior executive leader passionate about making an impact, to lead a team of 20 staff. As the Executive Director, Strategy, Governance and Risk, your main duties involve:- Lead the implementation and coordination of the departments' strategic planning and performance management framework, including risk management and governance frameworks, which will enhance DAF's capability to plan, measure, monitor, report and govern.- Maintain a compliance management framework suitable to the needs of DAF, ensuring compliance with relevant internal rules, laws, regulations and government policies.- Provide expert and timely analysis on strategy, risk and governance issues, to assist the Leadership Board with strategic decisions and proactive direction setting and managing risks.- Provide leadership and expert advice in identifying and facilitating the development of innovative and proactive strategies to build the capability of the department in efficiently and effectively delivering its services strategies and programs across DAF.- Lead the planning and performance team to build a cohesive approach across the planning and Risk management functions of the unit and create a professional and high performing culture that encourages commitment, ethical behaviour, skills development, professional growth and continuous improvement.- Oversee the department's internal audit (IA) function, including managing cosourcing arrangements, the development of the annual IA workplan, reports and recommendations.- Build and promote a culture that embraces IA and Risk management to ensure a proactive continuous improvement approach to the effective management of the department.- Establish and maintain multi-level trust-based relationships with peers and managers across the wider department.- Represent the department at a range of high-level state and national public investment and evaluation forums to gather information and promote developments within DAF.- Coordinate key DAF strategic responsibilities, providing governance oversight, meeting DAF's reporting requirements, including statutory and annual reporting.
What we are looking for:A degree or similar qualification in Governance and Risk management and membership affiliation with a professional association would be highly regarded.
