The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking an Executive Lead, Justice Health Services Reform to provide a critical role within Corrections and Justice Services.
About the Business Unit
Justice Health is part of the Corrections and Justice Services (CJS) group in the Department of Justice and Community Safety and supports the Minister for Corrections. CJS also comprises Corrections Victoria; Policy, Strategy and Service Design; Group Services and Coordination; and Justice Services (which includes Community Correctional Services and other justice programs). CJS plays an integral role in developing safer and more resilient communities and in delivering a trusted justice and community safety system.
Justice Health Services Reform is responsible for the design, procurement and delivery of new and innovative, evidenced-based Health Services that meet the needs of people of all ages and genders in custody.
About the Role
The Executive Lead reports to the Executive Director, Justice Health and is responsible for leading a program of work to develop, procure and implement new and innovative health service approaches for adults and young people in custody.
Some of your duties will include:
- Lead and oversee the Justice Health Services Reform unit to ensure timely development of new and innovative health service delivery approaches to improve health care for people in custody and drive service improvements, and to set the long-term strategic direction for custodial Health Services.
- Lead and oversee reviews and recommissioning processes to ensure Health Services in adult and youth custodial settings are evidence-based, contemporary and meet the needs of people in custody.
- Provide expert, authoritative and strategic written and verbal advice to the Minister, Secretary, Deputy Secretary and Executive Director on strategic from a portfolio-wide perspective.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A proven track record in senior executive roles in matters of service planning, delivery and performance monitoring, resource management, quality management practices and corporate governance.
- High-level policy skills and proven ability to manage the delivery of government policy objectives, including experience in providing strategic advice to government on complex issues.
- Highly developed relationship building and stakeholder management skills with a track record in building successful partnerships, including a demonstrated ability to build cross portfolio relationships.
- Highly developed skills in the development of and leadership for system and service development, innovation, and reform
- Sound commercial acumen and an understanding of external provider service specification, contract negotiations and management.
Qualifications
- A relevant qualification is highly desirable.
