SHINE SA (founded in 1970 as the Family Planning Association of South Australia), now provides comprehensive and integrated sexual and reproductive health services and programs prioritising those with the most need and least choice. Retaining an approach founded on the principles of reproductive and sexual rights, and the celebration of diversity this recognised not-for-profit organisation works towards a vision of sexual health and relationship wellbeing for all. High quality services and programs span sexual and reproductive health clinical and counselling services, professional and community education and information services, HEALTH PROMOTION programs and more.
SHINE SA’s dedicated and professional education teams work with teachers, doctors, nurses/midwives, Aboriginal Health, youth and other workforces, families and communities to provide quality education, raise awareness, inform and advocate.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer as part of the Executive Management Team, the Executive Manager, Education & Health Promotion holds a senior leadership position steering the development and delivery of SHINE SA’s education and training, HEALTH PROMOTION and marketing and communications programs and services. The role is also responsible for oversight of the SAMESH program, a partnership between SHINE SA and Thorne Harbour Health, which delivers targeted HIV and STI HEALTH PROMOTION and support to those living with HIV and LGBTIQA+ communities.
Supported by a team of 5 specialist professionals, key responsibilities include:
- managing performance outcomes in accordance with strategic and operational plans;
- identifying innovation and growth opportunities for education, HEALTH PROMOTION and training services;
- supporting SHINE SA’s advocacy, policy and government relations to address emerging issues and service gaps;
- identifying and recommending research and development opportunities to support strengthened delivery of evidence-based services;
- championing the organisation’s values, vision and goals both with internal teams and external stakeholders.
