Executive Officer - mostly work from home

About the Role

Stawell Gift Event Management (SGEM) needs a wonderful part time Executive Officer. You could work remotely for most of the year.  But, come Easter when the Australia's richest foot race is run in Stawell, you will be need to join us for the running of this historical event.

This is a part time role.  18.5hours per week for 11 months of the year and the full time for one month leading up to and after the Stawell Gift is run over the Easter long weekend.

The primary purpose of the role is to lead SGEM and support the Board to achieve the priorities and key projects in our Strategic Plan.  This role presents a unique opportunity to lead a young organisation on its next steps towards growth and sustainability.

• A strategic thinker and someone who takes care of the detail
• A great communicator and collaborator
• A support to the Board and sub-committees
• relevant tertiary qualification in business management or similar
• At least 5years relevant experience.

Stawell Gift Event Management

Stawell Gift Event Management (SGEM), formed in August 2020, is a for-purpose company limited by guarantee governed by a volunteer Board.  Working in partnership with our Members, Northern Grampians Shire Council (NGSC), Stawell Athletic Club (SAC) and the Victorian Athletic League (VAL), the Victorian Government and key stakeholders, SGEM oversees the delivery and financial management of the Stawell Gift carnival.

The Stawell Gift 

The Stawell Gift carnival is held over the Easter long weekend and has been run since 1878.  The Stawell Gift is one of the most famous and prestigious professional footraces in the world.  More than 700 athletes from around Australia compete in 65 events across the weekend, which attracts up to 10,000 ticket holders over the 3 days.  The Stawell Gift is the only live, free to air athletics on television.
