Diamond Valley College is located on the rural fringes of the north-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. In 2024 the school has a total of 830.8 enrolments and 86.4 effective full time (EFT) staff consisting of 1 principal, 2 assistant principals, 4 leading teachers, 2 learning specialists, 62.3 EFT teachers, 4 instrumental music teachers (0.8 EFT) and 14.24 EFT educational support staff. The college also employs specialist coaches for an on-site Sports Academy in the areas of tennis, basketball, netball, AFL and strength and conditioning.
65% of students utilise either the school bus network or public transport to access the school and students living as far north as Kinglake/Christmas Hills to the east and Doreen/Mernda to the west are enrolled. Recent enrolment growth has enabled the college to develop a broader range of curriculum offerings, support structures and an increase in staffing that brings new opportunities and ideas.
Diamond Valley College is committed to providing a structured approach to learning that empowers all students to achieve their chosen pathway. We provide all students with access to a broad and challenging curriculum, with the expectation to achieve at least one-year's learning growth each year. Diamond Valley College offers a safe, positive, learning environment, which strives to develop a sense of pride and community that is underpinned by the College values of respect, responsibility, and excellence.
Our mission is to guide students' potential through developing creative, independent, curious, and critical thinkers to reach their personal best. We aim to provide all students with access to a broad and challenging curriculum and experiential learning opportunities.
We prioritise the learning growth of all students across all teaching and learning domains, with an emphasis on improved literacy and numeracy. We value student voice and agency and aim to increase the extent to which students understand themselves as learners, can articulate their needs and interests throughout their studies and access point of need learning. With this in mind, we seek to improve the overall engagement and connectedness of our students to their learning, college, and community. Students are at the centre of our work and their wellbeing and learning growth are the focus. Teams have worked collaboratively to ensure that the curriculum for years 7 to 12 across all teaching and learning domains is well documented and accessible to all.
The College is currently divided into two sub schools, years 7 to 9 and years 10 to 12. This allows for a comprehensive senior program with classes blocked together to permit advanced placements. The college maintains a comprehensive offering of VCE subjects that includes a number of combined classes to accommodate small class sizes. Opportunities in the senior levels are extended via the Northern VET Cluster and a full Vocational Major program for units 1 to 4. We provide VET Screen and Media via the cluster and have a number of external students attending the college to study this.
The Diamond Valley College Sports Academy Program was first established in 2017 and offers prospective enrolments access to a High-Performance Athlete Training System while participating in a rigorous and comprehensive academic program. The College also runs a High Achiever Program which is designed to offer high achieving learners the opportunity to work in a challenging and stimulating environment with students of similar ability.
The College has a longstanding commitment to providing students with the opportunity to participate in international travel experiences including World Challenge, Space Camp and an Italian study tour.
The school undertook its four yearly review in Term 4, 2023 and has begun working towards the goals, targets and key improvement strategies of the new School Strategic Plan in 2024.
