About the Role (Afternoon Shift)
Teys Australia is seeking an enthusiastic and drivenWorkplace Health and Safety Officer with highly developed organisational skills to join the Safety team based at our Tamworth processing site in New South Wales. The role will be responsible for the coordination and management of the Health and Safety System across meat processing site operations.
This position is to cover the afternoon shift, hours of work are 12pm – 9pm, Monday to Friday.
Role responsibilities:
- Maintain safety management systems to reduce and prevent workplace injury and illness across the plant by implementing WH&S training, identifying potential safety risks, and coaching of line managers/supervisors to implement appropriate procedures.
- Assist in promoting an efficient Rehabilitation return to work program for injured employees.
- Conducting daily safety inspections of the plant/and or shift to ensure the correct WH&S procedures and behaviours are undertaken by employees.
- Develop and deliver appropriate training programs for both employees and site management to uphold and enhance a safety-driven culture
- Any additional duties as directed by General Manager Operations or Group WH&S Manager.
About You
It is essential that you have the following experience/skills:
- Workplace Health & Safety Officer accreditation in New South Wales.
- Personal qualities of drive, commitment, enthusiasm, and well-developed organisational skills
- Advanced computer (MS Word, Excel, Open Office) as well as sound verbal and written communication skills
Desirable:
- At least three (3) years of successful experience within a safety-related role within a manufacturing environment, particularly if it is food or heavy industry.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to advise and apply statutory obligations with respect to:
- WH&S Legislation
- WHS Management Systems
- Workers Compensation as a Self-Insurer or Retro Schemes
- Training
- Behavioural Safety.
- Experience in the development and application of training plans.
- Accreditation in:
- First Aid
- Workplace Training and Assessing
- Workplace Health and Safety Officer
- Rehabilitation.
