We are seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from legal secretaries (family or crime), legal administrators, or those with experience providing customer service to vulnerable clients to join our team.
This EOI is for future vacancies and applications will be reviewed from the week commencing 8 January 2024.
Some of the activities undertaken in these roles can include
- Being the first point of contact (either phone or front counter) to provide information and advice on legal processes, LAQ guidelines or referral agencies
- Analysing, assessing and processing applications for Legal Aid
- Managing administrative activities associated with a case file including opening, closing and archiving files; transcribing interviews; filing and service of documents; data entry and searches.
- Helping lawyers prepare for matters including preparing correspondence, keeping detailed file notes, gathering personal information from clients, drafting affidavits and preparing summons/ subpoenas.
- Compiling briefs for counsel including photocopying, indexing, typing instructions and collection of relevant police material from the police station or prosecutions.
- Helping lawyers prioritise daily tasks and maintain appointments and calendars

- ability to effectively communicate with clients who have complex needs
- experience using a range of information technology systems or ability to learn new systems quickly
- ability to adapt to changing priorities and confidence to work both independently and as part of a team
