NEPEAN Conveyors (a division of NEPEAN™) provides fully engineered turnkey conveying and materials handling solutions, from concept to commissioning for some of the world's largest mining companies.  Established in 1985, it manufactures and markets conveyor components including pulleys, idlers, rapid advance-rapid retreat components and drive-heads, and provides on-site installation, maintenance, and relocation of conveyor installations. 

Our Opportunity

Due to exponential growth, NEPEAN Conveyors have opportunities for a Fabrication Supervisorto join the team and help lead the fabrication department. This position is full-time permanent, based in Mackay -  Slade Point. 

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

Operational

• Ensure the timely, efficient and safe operation of the Fab Department 
• Oversee workshop Fab staff on a day to day basis
• Enforce the correct use of machinery and equipment
• Operate relevant machinery, as required
• Reporting as per Supervisor requirements
• Reporting of plant faults/breakdowns
• Oversee and mentor tradesmen and apprentices 
• Oversee Assembly, testing and fault finding of equipment
• Oversee stores to ensure adequate level of stock items are available
•  Oversee and delegate work plans in conjunction with workshop supervisor
• Ensure workshop and storage area housekeeping is of a high standard and free of hazards
• Be able to fill in for Workshop Manager during leave/absents 
• Scheduling and planning 
• Participating in weekly production meetings 

People

• Manage the work of direct reports
• Ensure all new employees, tradesmen, contractors or visitors are inducted
• Train employees on new procedures or processes as required.
• Manage the performance of employees including completing performance appraisals and/or discipline of staff if required

WHS

• To work in a safe manner using appropriate Safe Work Instructions or Safety Operating Procedures and comply with relevant WHS Policies.
• To notify the Operations Manager immediately of any hazards in the workplace and to monitor any actions taken to correct hazards to ensure that the hazard is removed from the workplace
• Take all reasonable care and personal responsibility for the health and safety and maintenance of a safe work environment

• Trade qualified
• High attention to detail

• Organizational and time management skills
• Structural Steel Fabrication Experience (essential)
• Overhead Crane Experience
