Our Opportunity
Hanlon Industries have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and values-driven Fabrication Supervisor to join the team and help lead the fabrication department. This position is full-time permanent, based in our Geelong manufacturing hub.
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
Operational
- Ensure the timely, efficient, and safe operation of the Fabrication Department
- Oversee workshop Fabrication staff on a day-to-day basis.
- Enforce the correct use of machinery and equipment.
- Operate relevant machinery, as required.
- Reporting of plant faults/breakdowns.
- Oversee and mentor tradesmen and apprentices.
- Oversee assembly, testing and fault finding of equipment.
- Oversee stores to ensure adequate level of stock items are available.
- Oversee and delegate work plans in conjunction with Production Managers and Coordinators.
- Ensure workshop and storage area housekeeping is of a high standard and free of hazards.
- Scheduling and planning
- Participating in weekly production meetings
People
- Manage the workflow of all direct reports.
- Ensure all new employees, tradesmen, contractors, or visitors are inducted.
- Train employees on new procedures or processes as required.
- Manage the performance of employees including completing performance appraisals and/or discipline of staff if required.
OH & S
- Supervise a safe working environment using appropriate Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and complying with relevant OH & S policies.
- To notify the Production Manager immediately of any hazards in the workplace and to monitor any actions taken to correct to ensure that the hazard is removed from the workplace.
- Take all reasonable care and personal responsibility for the health and safety and maintenance of a safe work environment.
The Right Person
To be considered for this opportunity, the right person will have:
- Structural Steel Fabrication Experience (essential)
- Trade qualified.
- Rights to work in Australia.
- Time management skills and high attention to detail.
- Leadership capability in maintaining company disciplines and making executive decisions.
- A results-driven collaborator with a positive and initiative-taking attitude
- Excellent communication, organisational, team management and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to read drawings, reports, engineering documents and specifications.
- Administrative capability to manage quality, OHS&E, and company documentation.
- Ability to take ownership and responsibility for the results of the team.
- A focus on exceeding customer expectations.
- The flexibility to work a combination of days / nights / weekends and out-of-hours work.
Desirable licenses and tickets would include:
- A general construction induction card / white card
- Dogman and Basic Rigger
- Overhead Crane
- First Aid
- Forklift
