AKT Engineering is looking for a full-time Fabrication Workshop Foreman to join our team. This is an immediate opportunity.
You will be working on a 2-week rotating shift roster system. 2-week morning shift and a 2-week afternoon shift work. Afternoon shift will include a daily incentive.
Qualifications & experience
- Workshop Foreman experience or Managing a team experience essential
- Trade Certificate
- NATA Welding Certification provided (Welder must be able to pass FCAW & GMAW FPBW tests, All provided by AKT)
- Forklift Ticket beneficial but not essential
- Experience with bridge/gantry cranes beneficial
Key characteristics
Ability to manage a small, tight knit team of around 10 fabricators
- Attention to detail
- Strong Leadership & people management skills
- Ability to multitask and plan ahead
Tasks include but not limited to;
- Reporting directly to Fabrication Manager
- Plan, co-ordinate and implement the Fabrication Workshop activities with the Fabrication Manager to meet with client deadlines
- Fabricating & welding out structural steel assemblies when required
- QA inspections of fabricated members
- Be able to read and understand shop drawings
- Assign jobs and direct team members
- Ensure safe work practices
- Be able to work in a team environment as well as autonomously when required
