Macadamia Farm Management (MFM) was established in 1987 in response to an increasing demand for specialist, high quality farm management in the macadamia industry. MFM is now Australia's largest manager of trees for both private individuals and companies.
Our mission is to help grow and maintain sustainability of the Australian Macadamia industry with improved economies of scale.
About the role:
Your key focus will be to assist with the design, manufacture and or modification of machinery and equipment including harvesters and other key farm equipment. The role will require you to lead, motivate and drive a small team of people to achieve production targets, whilst maintaining quality. You will also have a desire for continuous improvement with the ability to review and provide practical recommendations to improve our current workshop systems and practices.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage the end to end process of design, construction and modifications of farm machinery, equipment and facilities.
2. Manage and coordinate all fabrication repairs and maintenance.
3. Lead and mentor a small team of employees, ensuring efficiency and productivity is achieved.
4. Develop preventative maintenance schedules to ensure safe and effective use of equipment.
5. Manage all aspects of parts and consumables for the workshop to ensure sufficient stock levels.
6. Monitor and evaluate the efficiency of operations, equipment and work practices providing ongoing suggestions for improvement.
Key Selection Criteria for this position:
1. Experience managing a medium to large Fabrication Workshop, including apprentices.
2. Experience with the design, construction and or modification of farm machinery and equipment including harvesters, tractors, mower/slasher decks and chemical spray rigs.
3. Trade qualification and/or 5 + years of fabrication experience preferably in the Agriculture industry.
4. Demonstrated experience implementing productivity and efficiency improvements.
5. Demonstrated experience setting up schedules, work plans and productivity targets.
6. Ability to be a lateral but practical thinker with a high attention to detail.
7. Previous experience working with and applying Work Health and Safety policies and procedures.
