Southern River College is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Program Coordinator – Specialised Autism Learning Program (SALP) who will provide educational leadership; coaching and mentoring programs that build staff capacity, fostering the development of a responsive and inclusive curriculum.
The Program Coordinator - SALP for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) will provide students diagnosed with ASD (without intellectual disability) with targeted evidence-based programs aimed at increasing age-appropriate academic engagement, organisational skills, social thinking, peer relationships and self-regulation. The Program Coordinator - SALP will work in collaboration with the Principal and other members of the administration team to provide educational leadership in the school by helping to develop and promote programs that meet the educational needs of students with Autism. The Program Coordinator - SALP will develop, implement, monitor and review the provision of educational services that are based on explicit teaching principles.
As the successful applicant you will also have the responsibility for working with Education Assistants in maximising their support for students with educational needs across the school.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Capacity experience, knowledge and high-level skills in applying evidence based methodologies and interventions for individual education plans.
- Professional knowledge, and the ability to apply this knowledge, to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for students.
- Highly developed leadership skills in a diverse range of educational settings.
- High-level communication, interpersonal and public relation skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships to achieve planned outcomes.
- High-level conceptual and analytical skills, together with the proven ability to provide innovative solutions to complex problems and issues.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
- complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
