The Opportunity
We now have an exciting opportunity available for an early career IE Engineer to join our Engineering and Planning team in Brisbane, QLD on a full-time 15 month fixed term basis. Learn more about working for APA at Working at APA
Reporting to the Team Lead Facilities Engineering Instrumentation and Electrical, you will play a key role in providing maintenance support and supporting reliability initiatives that drives operational excellence across APA facilities in transmission and midstream. This position will be assigned a region of responsibility to support by leveraging knowledge within the Facilities Engineering team and broader organisation. This includes generating improvement opportunities for new projects and providing operations engineering input to existing projects in this region.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver improved operational and maintenance support for APA above ground assets centred on Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineering.
- The team's technical areas of work include control systems hardware, software and logic, instrumentation, electrical, remote support, hazardous areas, control valves, pressure regulation, HAZOP/CHAZOP, SIL, PI historian, and communications. Equipment includes pressure vessels, metering, gas filtration and separation, centrifugal (turbine) and reciprocating compression, power generation, utility gas/air systems, heaters, PLC/RTU's, LV electrical distribution and protection, and other related items associated with APA's gas transmission pipeline systems.
- Regular site travel and on call duty required.
- Collaboration with other Engineering disciplines and APA departments expected.
- Provide input on implementing Asset Management principles; specifically, reliability and maintenance strategies.
About You
- Tertiary qualification in Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering or similar admitting to corporate membership of the Institute of Engineers, Australia or equivalent experience (Required)
- Experience in hydrocarbon operations environment and gas transmission electrical, control and instrumentation engineering (required)
- Working knowledge of Australian and international electrical codes and standards (Required).
- Good interpersonal skills and capable of relating to all levels of staff & management.
- Self-motivated with strong investigation and fault analysis skills.
- Demonstrated experience in proactive site support and maintenance cultures within owner operating companies
- Background in mature Asset Management business processes for owner operators; specifically, criticality, RCM and RBI is beneficial.
