About the PositionAs a Family Support Practitioner, you will be a key member of our Intensive Family Support (IFS) team. Your role will be to provide intensive support to vulnerable families with children and young people (unborn to 18 years) who are at risk of involvement in the statutory child protection system.
You will work collaboratively with families to identify and prioritise their presenting needs and provide intensive support interventions and engagement with specialist services. You will compile case notes, safety plans, risk assessments and support plans and maintain them on a database system within strict timeframes.
The IFS program is consent-based, providing case management for clients. You will be responsible for maintaining personal safety and the safety of colleagues and clients through understanding and responding to indicators of risk.
Candidate ProfileWe are looking for a candidate with:
- Tertiary qualifications (University level, 3 or 4 year degree) in Social Work, Human Services or a related field
- Ability to use a variety of tools to successfully engage with hard-to-reach families with complex issues
- Demonstrated skills in maintaining personal safety and the safety of colleagues and clients through understanding and responding to indicators of risk
- Experience in compiling case notes, safety plans, risk assessments and support plans and maintaining them on a database system within strict timeframes
You will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable families.
Salary & BenefitsThe salary for this position is Level 3 ($36.00) or Level 4 ($41.52) of the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award (depending on qualifications and experience) + not for profit salary packaging.
