Supherb is a large scale Horticultural business undertaking a major expansion over the next 12 months. We are one of Australia's largest growers of culinary herbs serving retail, wholesale markets and food processors.
Qualifications & experience
- A current ACUP Permit and Chemcert training is a bonus or the candidate will be required to successfully complete the two day course within the first 3 months of employement.
- A valid Victorian Car licence is essential. A current forklift licence will be a bonus or the candidate will be required to successfully complete training within the first 6 month of employment.
- Formal Tertiary or Tafe qualifications in Agronomy, Nursery or Horticultural studies would be favourable but not mandatory.
- At least 2-3 years current experience in a farm, nursery, greenhouse, agronomy or horticultural consultancy role will be essential and past team leadership and staff management roles will be viewed very favourably.
Tasks & responsibilities
- Organise Planting Programs-Assist in creating and implementing monthly crop programs based on a review of last year's program and current customer demands.
- Crop Assessments-Inspect crops and record information regarding growth cycle, soil conditions, irrigation needs, pest pressures and general health.
- Post Harvest Review-Record results such as crop yields, pest issues whilst discussing and formulating recommendations for the next seasons program and customer demands.
- Nursery work-Hands on management of farm nursery to care for seedlings. Propagate, seeding trays, and evaluate new varieties.
- Stock and Equipment control-Organise the distribution of Seed, Seedlings, Fertiliser, Agrichemicals, Equipment and Irrigation parts across a number our sites to enable Crop health team to work efficiently.
- Facilitate Crop Health Team-Ensure daily duties are fulfilled. Provide support to Management. Provide relief when key staff within the crop health team are on leave and consult with external Agronomists etc.
