About the Role
We are excited to commence the search process for an experience and passionate Farm Manager who will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Corowa farm with its cropping, irrigation, plus Sheep and Cattle enterprises. As well as aid and oversite to other company owned properties at Deniliquin, Howlong, and Bendigo. A competitive remuneration package for the right person, which includes a fully maintain vehicle and a newly renovated house just 6klm from Corowa with good schooling, retail, and medical facilities. With only a small direct team this role is supported by qualified in house welders, concreters, electricians, and mechanics.
Key Responsibilities
- Effectively manage the Corowa grazing & cropping lands surrounding our pig enterprises.
- Oversee and manage the planning, sowing, spraying and harvesting of 1700 hectares of winter and summer cropping programs comprising of wheat, barley, canola and corn.
- Develop, execute, and oversee sustainable effluent irrigation programs with over 450 hectares of pivot irrigation.
- Liaise with Rivalea's agronomist, stock agents and contractors to ensure all farm enterprises achieve the best result. Working with the agronomist and stock agents to develop farm budgets for approval.
- Record and produce weekly data appropriately for the irrigation, spraying, harvesting of all crops, and livestock management.
- Effectively manage the 300 Angus cows and 2100 ewes, undertake all animal husbandry duties including a small feedlot program.
- Assist in the movement of livestock.
- Ensure Animal Welfare standards are adhered to at all times.
- Purchase stores and equipment as required within the approved financial budget.
- Liaise with contractors and staff to ensure timely completion of tasks within budget constraints.
- Manage workload with respect to variations in staffing levels, environmental factors and weather conditions.
- Oversee site personnel matters including skills analysis, training, recruitment, rostering and safety.
- Provide guidance and leadership to the Farm Hands.
- Undertake general farm duties as required.
- Sound knowledge of farming practices focusing on cropping and fodder programs and the utilisation of effluent
- Experience with pivot irrigation, farm machinery and agronomy software programs
- Demonstrated understanding of WHS, QA and People & Performance principles
- High level communication skills, initiative and strong attention to detail
- Effective time management skills
- Willingness to work flexible hours
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- A current Heavy Vehicle and telehandler licence or wiliness to obtain.
- A chemical users licence
