AddressOur clients own a very productive and well-appointed Beef breeding and finishing property located in the picturesque Yarra Valley region being very close to the regional centre of Yarra Glen, comprising of 420 hectares across two properties with a carrying capacity of 300 cows plus progeny.
We are searching for a conscientious self-motivated person for the position of Working Farm Manager. You will need to possess great cattle management skills and ideally have experience in rotational grazing, pasture improvement, fencing, hay & silage making, and general machinery & building maintenance to be considered for this exciting role.
A heavy vehicle license would be an advantage.
The Role
This role provides leadership and direction across two properties located near Coldstream, Vic, in the picturesque and highly productive Yarra Valley. The properties currently run 300 Angus breeders plus followers, and combined, they cover 420 hectares. As Farm Manager, you are to ensure the operation is run in a sustainable and safe manner and the business production objectives are met. You will be dedicated to and take ownership in optimizing the enterprise as a key driver for productivity and profit for the business; you will achieve this with a hands-on work ethic.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Cattle husbandry including marking, feeding, drenching, weaning and general animal health.
- Livestock Marketing and Selling.
- Grazing Management (rotational) and pasture establishment.
- Construction and maintenance of fencing (electrical and traditional).
- Fodder making, both silage and hay production.
- Regular reporting to owners as required including reporting and maintaining livestock, pasture, and machinery records (pursuant to QA and OH & S standards)
- Liaising with contractors.
- Machinery Maintenance.
- General building upkeep and maintenance.
- Truck driving of machinery and livestock between properties.
- General homestead maintenance work if required.
